It is always a fun time to go to Grandma's House. It is even more exciting when there are cousins to play with while we are there. This past week we ventured down to Indy, so S could interview 2 1/2 south of her house. We arrived on Wednesday and didn't leave until Saturday afternoon. Indianapolis has had little to no rain this summer. They are on a water restriction. It was really hot at Gma's house which made it hard to sleep the first couple of nights. However the weather cooled enough that the temperature inside her house was more bearable for sleeping.
On Thursday we took most of the kids to the theater to see Inkheart. Fortunately I could leave Em at home with Gma so that she could take a much needed nap. We came home and the kids entertained themselves with cornstarch and water for over an hour. Then there was lots of playing together. Thursday evening we made a Chinese meal complete with Chinese music. It included stir-fry, spring rolls and a special soup (I can't remember what it was called).
Friday after lunch we headed to Danville to swim at Ellis Park pool. It had slides, a play area and a lazy river. It sounded like a lot of fun. However on our drive there it started to rain. It didn't last long, but the pool's policy was that if there was thunder or lightning, they couldn't open the pool until 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning. We played at the park while we waited, but after 1 1/2 hours we decided to come up with a different plan. I finally suggested we head to my parent's house. Everyone had a wonderful time and it all worked out really well. We headed home for taco salad and watching of the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Olympics.
Saturday we spent relaxing and enjoying more of the olympics. The kids became really involved in a "Birthday" party they had put together. There were decorations, games and goodies. The kids truly enjoy the times they can spend with their cousins. I am so grateful that we are able to do it as often as we do. Family is wonderful!
